The axe Jack Nicholson swung through a bathroom door in the iconic 'Here's Johnny!' scene is among dozens of items from Stanley Kubrick's personal archive going to auction at Bonhams in London in February. Kubrick's stepdaughter Katherina Kubrick said the family hopes the items will 'find new homes and be cherished until it is time to pass them on to the next generation of film lovers.' The sale will be preceded by a free public exhibition.

The star lot is the 'Star Child' prop from '2001: A Space Odyssey', expected to fetch up to £800,000.

The Grady sisters' matching blue dresses from 'The Shining' are estimated to sell for £40,000 to £60,000.

Kubrick's annotated scripts for 'Lolita', 'Spartacus' and his original 'Journey Beyond The Stars' treatment are also on the block.
