Jack White pays tribute to brother Eddie Gillis, who taught him to string a guitar, after his death from cancer

Edward 'Eddie' Gillis spent a decade overseeing Third Man Records' vinyl pressing plant in Detroit, Michigan. He died on Saturday. White, the youngest of 10 siblings, said on Instagram that 'the world lost a beautiful soul today' and remembered Gillis as the family's guitar player while he himself was 'on drums only'. Gillis leaves his wife Angie and two children, Amelia and Garrett.

Gillis fashioned offcuts of vinyl from the plant into small sculptures and flowers.

He was also a pastry chef who ran kitchens for the Ritz Carlton and Beaumont Hospital.

The brothers once played for the Detroit Tigers at spring training in Florida.
