Jaguar boss says reaction to its £120,000 Type 01 electric car was 'very British' as deposits open now

Jaguar managing director Rawdon Glover has defended the polarising Type 01 electric GT, calling public reaction to its reveal 'very British' and insisting the 1,015hp, £120,000 car marks a deliberate break from the brand's shrinking, ageing customer base. Deposits open immediately, with full orders following in early 2027 and first deliveries expected around mid-year. Glover warned that rushing further models would repeat past mistakes, vowing the next Jaguar will only launch once the Type 01 is properly established.

The Type 01 stretches 5.2 metres — longer than the average UK parking space — and uses a 118kWh battery with three electric motors.

Glover told dealers waiting for new stock they won't have to wait 'too long', admitting 'I need it too'.
