Jeffrey Donaldson and his wife Eleanor Donaldson. Donaldson, jailed last week for 15 years for child sex offences, now faces Met police questioning over an alleged rape inside Parliament in 2016.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland handed the case to the Met on 13 October after interviewing the woman, who is from Northern Ireland. Donaldson, 63, was sentenced last week to 15 years for 18 historical child sex offences, including rape, committed between 1985 and 2008. Detectives may now interview him at Maghaberry Prison. The inquiry is at an early stage, with no arrests made.

She says he gave her a tour of the Commons and took her to dinner before they went to the DUP offices.

In July she alleged he pushed vodka shots on her and tried to kiss her.

Now stripped of his knighthood and Privy Council seat, he has lodged an appeal.
