Jamaica receives first flight of US third-country deportees as Supreme Court battle over the policy looms
Twenty-two migrants — all adults including seven women, mostly South American nationals — landed at Kingston's Norman Manley International Airport on Tuesday under a memorandum of understanding signed in June. Jamaica is acting as a transit hub, not a permanent destination, with arrivals capped at 25 per fortnight and no migrant with a criminal record permitted entry. Trump's administration secured an interim Supreme Court victory allowing third-country deportations to continue while legal challenges play out. Similar deals have been struck with Liberia, Eswatini and Paraguay.
