The unnamed frontrunner is reported to be clearing his diary of upcoming projects, the clearest signal yet that a casting decision on the next James Bond is imminent. The role has been vacant since Daniel Craig's final outing, with producers Barbara Broccoli and the co-producer yet to make a formal announcement.

Ben Whishaw, who played Q in the Craig era, has separately argued Bond needs a full reinvention for a new generation.

No official confirmation has come from Eon Productions, but the frontrunner's schedule moves are being read as the strongest hint yet.
