JD Vance slams Republican 'whining' over Vivek Ramaswamy's Ohio attack ad featuring rival's estranged mother

Vice President JD Vance told a Cincinnati press conference he was 'a little bit disgusted' that Republicans were attacking the $4 million ad instead of Democrats. In the ad, Donna Arthur calls her daughter Amy Acton a 'liar' and says 'my daughter needs help'. Acton, aged 12, was removed from her mother's home following rape charges against her stepfather. Vivek Ramaswamy has admitted the ad came from his campaign.

Ohio Republican senator Jon Husted said bluntly: 'I would not have run' the ad.

Congresswoman Nancy Mace warned Vance's defence 'might have cost JD Vance the presidency'.

Ramaswamy's betting odds have plummeted, and a heckler was escorted out of his rally by police.
