Jeremy Clarkson is slammed by his hosts Alpine after joking Franco Colapinto got a grid penalty 'for being Argentinian'

Colapinto's manager Jamie Campbell-Walter called the remark 'completely unacceptable', insisting there is 'no place' for it in Formula 1. Clarkson, 66, made the quip to Martin Brundle on Sky Sports in the Austin paddock. Alpine said the views were personal and clashed with its values of 'kindness and respect'. The 23-year-old from Buenos Aires starts 21st at the US Grand Prix after a 10-place engine penalty.

Clarkson tied the jibe to 'what happened when we went there' in 2014.

Top Gear's Patagonia shoot was abandoned amid protests over an H982 FKL number plate.

Only a week earlier, Colapinto urged his own fans to stop abusing rival drivers online.
