Thames Valley Police have closed their investigation into the apparent theft of sheep from Jeremy Clarkson's Diddly Squat Farm after confirming all 11 animals were accounted for. The reported raid turned out to be an accidental miscount by farm staff, with no theft having taken place. Clarkson, 66, had furiously demanded thieves return the Easycare breeding ewes and warned would-be rustlers: 'It's a farm. We're armed. Just so they know.'

Clarkson and co-star Kaleb Cooper sparked the alarm after counting only 16 of 27 sheep in the field at his Chadlington, Oxfordshire farm.

The missing ewes were reportedly worth more than £2,000 at market, with fears that his Amazon show had made Diddly Squat a target for livestock thieves.

Police confirmed in a statement: 'No sheep were stolen — an accidental miscount was behind the report.'
