JK Rowling vows to keep speaking out on 'trans activism' despite an 'avalanche of death, rape and torture threats'
JK Rowling, 61, has branded modern trans activism 'elitist' in a 2,000-word essay posted on her website on Wednesday. Six years after her original 2020 essay, she insists: 'My views haven't changed.' The Harry Potter author pledged to keep using her money to fund court cases for women who could not otherwise afford them. 'If a man can be a woman, there is no such thing as a woman,' she wrote.
Rowling says she objects to rules letting convicted male rapists be 'locked up with women'.
She concedes there are 'without question' vulnerable trans people in society.
The essay lands weeks before HBO Max's Harry Potter series premieres on 25 December.
