Journey drummer Deen Castronovo, 62, is rushed to hospital after 'medical emergency' at Tulsa farewell tour concert

From the Newshound archive · first published 9 October 2026.

Castronovo collapsed during Journey's second song at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Thursday night, forcing the band to pause their farewell tour show. Keyboardist Jonathan Cain addressed the stunned crowd with a plea for prayers before guitarist Neal Schon confirmed Castronovo had been taken to hospital. The show resumed with drum tech Steve Toomey filling in, and Schon later told the audience: 'This concert's for Deen — I think he's going to be fine.'

Castronovo, who rejoined Journey in 2021 after a six-year absence, was helped off stage after just two songs.

Singer Arnel Pineda tried to calm the crowd with a lighter note, saying: 'He's gonna be fine — too much Gatorade.'

No medical details have been released; the band's next scheduled show is in San Antonio, Texas.
