Judge brands Katie Price a 'dangerous witness' whose evidence nearly collapsed ex-husband Kieran Hayler's rape trial before his acquittal

After Price's first day in the witness box, defence barrister Arlette Piercy demanded the jury be discharged. She accused Price of a "premeditated attempt to bring down this trial" and an "overwhelming tsunami of prejudice". From the bench, Judge Mark van der Zwart stated that Price's personal agenda had nearly derailed the proceedings and that her time giving evidence should have been curtailed. The case was heard at Lewes Crown Court.

Hayler, 39, was cleared of all eight counts after nearly 15 hours of jury deliberation.

Price denied being 'angry and vengeful', insisting she had 'no venom' for her ex-husband.

Outside court, Hayler thanked supporters who stood by him through 'five years of absolute hell'.
