Judge caught speeding to court THREE TIMES gets nine penalty points and vows to catch the bus instead

From the Newshound archive · first published 26 September 2026.

Deputy District Judge Charles Crow accumulated nine penalty points across three separate speeding offences committed between November 2023 and March 2026, each time while "rushing" to court. He self-reported all three incidents and accepted full responsibility, leading the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office to resolve the matter via fast-track misconduct proceedings. Baroness Carr, the Lady Chief Justice, and Lord Chancellor Alex Norris subsequently issued him with a formal misconduct advisory.

Crow acknowledged that "rushing" to court was a contributing factor and described himself as "embarrassed" by his behaviour.

He pledged to rely more on public transport, manage his time better and activate speed-limiting technology when behind the wheel.

Under UK law, drivers face an automatic disqualification once they reach 12 or more penalty points within three years — leaving Crow just three points short of losing his licence.
