One woman in the Lincolnshire village of Anwick handed Jamie Martin, 35, more than £38,000; a second customer in nearby Sleaford gave him over £25,000, both believing the money was going on materials and labour for their house extensions. Instead they got repeated excuses, poor-quality work and two unfinished builds that building control inspectors found unacceptable.

Ordered to pay a £228 surcharge, Jamie Martin committed the frauds between 2021 and 2022 near Sleaford.

'Stole money from my family and another', a third online reviewer wrote of Jamie Martin: 'both builds condemned.'

Detective Constable Henry Atkinson of Lincolnshire Police thanked both victims for helping bring Jamie Martin before the courts.
