Judge orders Trump to face BBC lawyers under oath by 11 December after he cancelled citing 'national importance'

BBC lawyer Charles Tobin told a Miami court that President Donald Trump was campaigning in Georgia on the day he cancelled his 16 October deposition. Magistrate Judge Enjoliqué Lett warned that if he misses the new deadline, his $10bn Panorama lawsuit faces sanctions, possibly including dismissal. His lawyers had offered 11 to 22 January. Lett also refused to stop the seven-hour session being videotaped.

Tobin said Trump 'prioritized' party politics 'over sitting for the deposition'.

Trump's lawyers have 30 days to hand over documents, and a Mar-a-Lago subpoena can proceed.

Trump's team branded the BBC 'disgraced' and accused it of 'reckless election interference'.
