Judge rules Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor can be called as a witness in a Turkish businessman's fraud trial over £750,000 payment

Selman Turk, a former Goldman Sachs banker who denies dishonesty, has obtained Mr Justice Adam Johnson's permission to pursue evidence from the former duke. Nebahat Isbilen, 77, alleges Turk, her ex-adviser, misled her over payments made to the Yorks in 2019. Andrew is accused of no wrongdoing, but the judge said compelling his appearance would most probably require a witness summons. The 11-week trial is expected to open in London in November.

Turk also arranged £225,000 for Sarah Ferguson and £25,000 for Princess Eugenie.

The Yorks agreed in 2023 to repay Isbilen an undisclosed sum.

The judge said Andrew is 'highly unlikely' to volunteer evidence at a public trial.
