Judge rules Cornell gang-rape accuser can stay 'Jane Doe' and warns online harassers they could face federal charges

More than 25,000 posts on X claimed to name the woman within a week of one user urging followers to 'discover the Cornell girl'. Judge Phaedra Perry-Bond of the New York Supreme Court cited 'malicious actors' threatening anyone linked to the case. The seven former Chi Phi fraternity members she is suing, who all deny wrongdoing, did not oppose the move. Her lawyer Thomas Giuffra said she was 'relieved'.

An unrelated man sharing a defendant's name was threatened after lawyers wrongly served him papers.

The judge said the same anonymity should 'likewise be extended' to the seven accused men.

President Trump weighed in, saying the accused 'won't get a fair shake'.
