Judge rules Trump unlawfully targeted Stanford student journalists over pro-Palestinian Israel coverage

A California federal judge has ruled that the Trump administration violated the Constitution by threatening student journalists at Stanford University's newspaper with deportation over their coverage of the Israel-Palestine conflict. District Judge Noël Wise found the administration's visa crackdown operated under "incomprehensible" standards and cautioned that First Amendment rights faced a "downward spiral." Courts had not previously struck down Trump's visa policies on this issue as unconstitutional, making the decision a landmark. Judge Wise wrote the government sent a "chilling message" — speak out against Israel and face deportation.
