Judge tosses child sex abuse indictment against West Wing actor Timothy Busfield over prosecutor misconduct
A New Mexico judge has dismissed the grand jury indictment against West Wing actor Timothy Busfield, who faced four counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor. Second Judicial District Court Judge Joseph Montano ruled the prosecutor failed to act fairly, improperly instructing the grand jury on calling witnesses and withholding requested witnesses. The dismissal does not end the case — the state remains free to file fresh charges against Busfield.
Judge Montano found the grand jury proceedings violated statutes designed to protect the integrity of the grand jury system.
According to the order, just two witnesses testified before the grand jury: a detective and Busfield himself.
Busfield is best known for playing Danny Concannon in the long-running White House drama 'The West Wing'.
