Judges ignored victims' pleas and let AI 'nudify' paedophile return to flats where he offended

Zafer Dogan, 32, was jailed for two years and four months last month after photographing more than 5,000 women and girls from his north London flat — which had a direct view of a children's playground in Enfield — and then using AI to strip them naked. Court transcripts reveal that despite desperate pleas from victims' families, prosecutors and the Met Police, judges repeatedly refused to remand him in custody while he awaited trial. Relatives of the children he targeted were left 'terrified' he would return to photograph them again — and he was sent back to the very flats where he had committed his offences.

Judge Barbara Mensah expressed 'every sympathy' for the families but ruled the legal bar for remanding Dogan had not been met.
