Julia Roberts hails 'a shining light' as stars mourn Top Gun and Alien actor Tom Skerritt, dead at 93
Julia Roberts, who played his daughter in Steel Magnolias, posted a throwback photo calling him 'a gentle man'. Picket Fences co-star Kathy Baker said her 'heart is broken' over the loss of her 'TV husband'. Lauren Holly said: 'He was our leader.' His family confirmed that Skerritt passed away on Wednesday from natural causes.
Skerritt won the 1993 Emmy for best drama actor as sheriff Jimmy Brock in Picket Fences.
As Top Gun's Viper, he told Tom Cruise's character: 'I like that in a pilot.'
His final Instagram post celebrated the legacy of 'A River Runs Through It'.
