Jury begins deliberating in Katie Price's ex-husband's child rape trial after prosecutor told jurors to cut through 'big egos'

Kieran Hayler, 39, denies three counts of rape and one of sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in West Sussex in 2016. The Lewes Crown Court jury of six women and five men was sent out by Judge Mark van der Zwart on Tuesday afternoon. If jurors accept that consent was present, they may instead return verdicts on four alternative counts of sexual activity with a child. Defence barrister Arlette Piercy cautioned that 'emotion is enemy of reason'.

Prosecutor Ryan Richter told jurors they may put '90%' of Katie Price's evidence aside.

Price messaged the girl in 2017: 'I will make you a little star'.

Richter asked what the complainant would gain by telling the court 'a pack of lies'.
