Just Eat Takeaway orders return to growth for the first time in NEARLY FIVE YEARS after Prosus turnaround

From the Newshound archive · first published 8 October 2026 · last updated 9 October 2026.

Just Eat Takeaway has ended a run of 55 consecutive months of falling orders, with parent company Prosus confirming 0.1% year-on-year order growth in September — a sharp reversal from the 9% decline recorded when Prosus bought the firm for £3.6 billion in December 2025. Prosus chief executive Fabricio Bloisi credited improvements in technology, logistics, product and marketing, saying the results were expected to "compound over time."

Bloisi said Prosus is "consciously trading short-term profitability" for faster long-term growth, mirroring its playbook in Brazil.

In Brazil, Just Eat's sister platform iFood holds roughly 80% app market share despite rivals burning an estimated $150 million a month on competition.
