Kai Trump, the 19-year-old granddaughter of President Donald Trump and a freshman golfer at the University of Miami, has disclosed that she needed surgery on her left wrist after injuring it during her first college tournament in September. She shared a photo taken in her hospital bed, arm in a cast and sling, telling her millions of Instagram followers she had initially hoped to avoid the operating table before family, coaches and medical staff convinced her surgery was the right decision for her long-term future.
This is Kai's second left wrist surgery — the first came in January 2026 following a late-2025 injury that threatened her college career almost before it had started.
The wrist gave way at the Golfweek Fall Classic in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, when she struck a cart path on the first hole and then felt it 'tear again' on the tenth.
Miami's Hurricanes currently sit seventh in the national rankings after two wins in three events — but must now press on without their most-followed freshman.
