Karen, Countess Spencer, has used part of her divorce settlement to purchase a six-bedroom country mansion in Northamptonshire, just 10 miles from Althorp, the 13,000-acre estate where she lived during her 13-year marriage to Earl Spencer. The 54-year-old Canadian-born social entrepreneur declined to leave Britain despite her acrimonious 2024 split, and is said to be building a new life practically on her ex-husband's doorstep.
Earl Spencer, 62, has since remarried Norwegian archaeologist Professor Cat Jarman, who is now installed at Althorp as Karen lives nearby.
The £3.6m property boasts a heated swimming pool, all-weather tennis court, gym and outdoor entertaining areas — and its grand facade is said to resemble Althorp itself.
Karen, who retains her Countess Spencer title despite the divorce, had previously been married to Hollywood producer Mark Gordon, behind 'Saving Private Ryan'.
