Karl Turner, who led the revolt against Starmer's jury trial curbs, has the Labour whip restored on 'probationary basis'
Karl Turner, who apologised for conduct he admitted was "at times, unacceptable", has had the Labour whip restored on a probationary basis after losing it in March.
The Hull East MP has apologised for conduct he admits was 'at times, unacceptable', even though Andy Burnham has since abandoned the jury trial curbs he fought. Turner lost the whip in March under Sir Keir Starmer, officially for 'uncollegiate' behaviour. He had also raised questions about the theft of Morgan McSweeney's phone while McSweeney was ex-No 10 chief of staff. In an 'agreed statement' on X, he conceded his approach was 'overly robust'.
Labour says he returns on probation after giving 'undertakings' on his future conduct.
Turner credited a 'renewed approach' to managing differences under Prime Minister Burnham.
The Chief Whip said his behaviour 'fell short of the standards expected' of Labour MPs.
