Laughter erupts in the briefing room as Katie Zacharia cuts short her debut White House press conference after accepting just three pre-selected questions in 14 minutes.

Katie Zacharia shared the picture in an effusive farewell post on the day she was forced out. A second photograph, published on Saturday alongside her family and the president, appeared to show the map removed altogether. Commentators noted that its outline bore a resemblance to East Potomac Park in Washington DC, the site of Trump's planned golf course redevelopment — a project facing a legal challenge from the DC Preservation League.

The administration says no finalised design for the golf course has been drawn up.

Zacharia admitted she had never passed the bar exam, even though she had referred to herself as an attorney.

Trump said he told her: 'Katie, do you need this? I don't think you need this.'
