Katie Zacharia stays 'ruthlessly loyal' to Trump after he says she 'freaked out' and reveals private chat before her firing

President Donald Trump told a Fort Myers rally that he had warned Zacharia 'there are easier ways for you to live' before she was let go, calling her a 'poor young woman' who cracked when reporters 'started screaming at her'. Zacharia, 41, lasted five days and gave one 14-minute briefing, taking questions from three journalists. She is the shortest-serving permanent press secretary ever.

Zacharia hit back with praise: 'No one has been more relentlessly attacked by the media.'

Predecessor Karoline Leavitt said the role 'obviously was not for her', while defending Zacharia by calling it a 'tough job'.

At that sole briefing, Zacharia accidentally called her husband 'my president'.
