Kemi Badenoch reveals she personally tells loud-music louts to 'turn it down' while No 10 urges passengers not to intervene

Tory leader Kemi Badenoch insisted young people 'actually do show respect' when confronted by a 'firm adult', but warned too many Britons are now 'scared of intervening'. Prime Minister Andy Burnham has unveiled £100 fines for passengers who play music without headphones. Badenoch argued such fines already exist and that enforcement is the real failure. She claimed ticket inspectors are 'scared' and train drivers 'don't want to get involved'.

A Government minister admitted there will be no 'special bus police' to tackle louts.

The Department for Transport made clear that enforcement will not fall to bus drivers.

Badenoch disclosed that her son, aged 10, has expressed a wish to join the army.
