Kemi Badenoch says police are seen as a 'ghost service' after 'devastating failures' over stabbed student

Henry Nowak, 18, was handcuffed as he lay dying after being stabbed in Southampton on December 3 2025. Body-camera footage captured him saying 'I've been stabbed', and an officer replied: 'Don't think you have, mate.' Kemi Badenoch said bereaved families are left to 'fight to uncover the truth themselves'. She also warned police there would be no 'massive pay rise' on day one.

The Tories have pledged 10,000 extra officers deployed to crime hotspots.

Badenoch: people 'lose faith' after watching footage of Henry's last moments.
