Kenya bus crash kills at least 22 just three weeks after 17 died on the SAME Nairobi-Mombasa highway

The bus had been transporting mourners home to Mombasa after they attended the burial of their church pastor in western Kenya; it collided with a truck near Mtito Andei. Hospital superintendent Paul Kisienya said a further 24 people were injured. Mother-of-two Violet Mwandonyi was among those who survived but said: 'I don't know the fate of my two children.' Transport officials believe 'improper overtaking' triggered a head-on collision.
Authorities had already identified that stretch of road as an 'accident black spot' and urged safety improvements.
Passenger Spenza Mudave said a truck struck the bus from behind, causing it to roll.
Makueni County Commissioner Abdullahi Khalif warned the death toll could still rise.
