Kenya confirms its ninth Ebola case as the US raises its travel warning over a record outbreak with no vaccine
The outbreak is driven by the Bundibugyo strain, which kills up to 50 per cent of those infected and has no vaccine or treatment. US officials have raised Kenya's travel advisory to Level 3. The CDC puts the outbreak's toll at 9,581 confirmed cases and 4,605 confirmed deaths. Almost all of those are in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Kenya's first case, confirmed on October 6, was a traveller from the DRC via Uganda.
The Africa CDC has described it as the most rapidly expanding Ebola outbreak in Africa's recorded history.
