Kenyan doomsday preacher who ordered followers to starve their children to 'meet Jesus' is convicted of 191 murders

All but one of the 191 victims in the verdict were children. More than 400 bodies have been dug up from shallow graves in Shakahola forest near Malindi. Mackenzie was first arrested in 2017 yet kept preaching for years, and he is due to be sentenced on 6 November.

Justice Diana Kavedza-Mochache said forest burials were celebrated as 'weddings' with Jesus.

Stephen Mwiti lost all six of his children, and his former wife was convicted alongside Mackenzie.

Kenyan President William Ruto has said government agencies should have prevented the deaths.
