Russell Brand sat bolt upright as a former MTV worker told his rape trial he became a 'wild-eyed maniac'
Russell Brand, who denies three counts of rape among seven charges, allegedly told one accuser she would "have to learn to enjoy it" — a phrase she said left her wondering: "Is this what abusers do?
The woman told Southwark Crown Court that Brand grabbed her forearm in 2001 and pleaded 'go on, come in' before she wrenched herself free after about 20 seconds. She said she stayed silent because he was 'one of the big assets at MTV and I have got a mortgage to pay'. Brand, 51, denies three rapes, three sexual assaults and one indecent assault against six women between 1999 and 2009.
His first accuser described him as 'monster-like' in connection with an alleged hotel room rape in 1999.
Wife Laura Gallacher has accompanied him to court on three of the five days so far.
Both women testified from behind a screen, an arrangement the judge described as 'quite standard'.
