'Kill him': Alabama man charged with decapitating grandmother and aunt with chainsaw threatened his own lawyer in court

Officers responding to a Mobile, Alabama home on Monday afternoon found Thomas Henry Steele, 47, facing capital murder charges after the decapitated bodies of his grandmother, Dora Boone, 85, and his aunt, Christy Deloach, 65, were discovered inside. Steele was already waiting outside the property when police arrived, apparently calm and unbothered. At a bond hearing on Tuesday, he was assigned public defender Glenn Davidson by the judge, prompting Steele to shout: 'No. Kill him.'
Earlier on the day she died, Christy Deloach had called 911 to say Steele was 'off his medication for lithium' but 'calm' and 'not violent.'
Davidson described Steele as 'clearly still in a state of psychosis' and said an insanity defence at trial had not been ruled out.
Steele was denied bond and ordered to undergo a competency examination; he was grinning in his police mugshot following his arrest.
