Robert Sabat, 60, fatally stabbed mother-of-two Dickiesha Nurse, 42, at her Tulse Hill flat within days of being let out on licence from HMP Wandsworth — under Labour's early release scheme, which cut the release threshold from 50 per cent of a sentence to 40 per cent. The Old Bailey sentenced him to life with a minimum of 17 years after he pleaded guilty to murder. Sabat's criminal record showed a long history of violence, including previous offences of knife possession, wounding with intent and harassment.
When arrested, Sabat told officers: 'I've done wrong. I killed before and got away with it. I've murdered three people so far. I'm gonna go on a murder spree.'
Sabat had been sentenced just the day before his release for banging on a former partner's door armed with two knives.
Judge Sarah Whitehouse KC said Nurse, known as Keisha and adored by her family, left behind devastating and terrible pain.
