Kim Jong Un returns to North Korea after visiting a Chinese war memorial on his first trip in a year
Kim crossed the New Yalu River Bridge into the Chinese border city of Dandong on Saturday in a trip neither Pyongyang nor Beijing announced in advance. There he met Wang Huning of China's Communist party standing committee, and the pair toured a car factory. Kim said North Korea 'stands ready to work with China' to expand cooperation. The visit came a day before China marks its 1950 entry into the Korean war.
The 3km bridge finally opened in mid-October, 12 years after China finished building it.
Kim sent thousands of troops to back Vladimir Putin before turning back towards Beijing.
It was Kim's sixth China visit and his first since a Beijing parade alongside Xi Jinping.
