King Charles is to host the Sultan of Oman at Windsor today for Oman's first state visit since 1982

Andy Burnham will be sitting near the King tonight at the banquet — his first as Prime Minister — wearing white tie and tails. Prince William will meet Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said at his residence this morning before accompanying him to Windsor, where Charles and Camilla will be standing on a dais in the town centre ahead of a carriage procession to the castle. The banquet takes place tonight in St George's Hall.

The Sultan, Oxford-educated and a former businessman, landed at Stansted Airport on Monday.

Harry and Meghan, now back in the UK, will not take part as non-working royals.

The Sultan will hold Downing Street talks with Burnham on Wednesday over the Strait of Hormuz.
