King's College Cambridge accused of 'caving in to activists' by flouting EHRC single-sex toilet rules

An alumna has accused King's College Cambridge of defying EHRC rules on single-sex spaces after the college replaced 'male' and 'female' toilet signs with gender-neutral labels reading 'cubicles' and 'cubicles/urinals'. The change, made several years ago following advice from a campus LGBT+ group, has left women queuing at disabled facilities to avoid sharing with men. The EHRC's code of practice — requiring single-sex access based on biological sex — came into force in August following the Supreme Court's ruling last year.
King's changed the signs based on a 2018 guide estimating up to 150 transgender students at Cambridge needed access to 'binary' toilets.
The anonymous alumna said the college was creating a 'hostile environment for people who believe in biological sex' and called the move 'shocking and cowardly'.
Three students who founded the Cambridge Society for Women were reportedly harassed and defamed, which critics say shows the university is failing gender-critical believers.
