Kristi Noem is accused of going 'rogue' and faking State Department letterhead to swat down rumours she was ousted

The statement Noem posted on X on October 16 insisted her envoy job had 'always' been 'a six-month appointment'. According to two sources with knowledge of her work, State Department leaders never approved it. One source claimed Noem 'went rogue and created a fake letterhead'. The department says she remains a senior adviser to Deputy Secretary Christopher Landau. Neither Noem nor the department has commented.

Trump fired Noem from Homeland Security in March after two US citizens were fatally shot.

Trump was reportedly enraged by her $220 million taxpayer-funded ad campaign promoting herself.

Investigators referred contracts tied to Corey Lewandowski, her alleged lover, to the Justice Department.
