Kristi Noem is out as Trump's 'Shield of the Americas' envoy just months after being fired from Homeland Security

A State Department official said Kristi Noem's envoy status quietly expired last month, though she continued attending diplomatic meetings at the UN General Assembly. She has since moved into a senior adviser role under Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau. Spokesman Tommy Pigott offered no explanation for the change. Noem wrote on X that the job 'was always a six-month appointment'.
President Trump praised Noem in September 'for doing a really terrific job.'
Her husband Bryon Noem is seeking spousal support after she filed to dissolve their 34-year marriage.
During Noem's tenure at DHS, US citizens Renee Good and Alex Pretti were killed by immigration officers in Minnesota.
