'He's got that twinkle': Kristin Scott Thomas says Slow Horses co-star Jack Lowden would make a 'very good' James Bond

Jack Lowden, the bookies' favourite to succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond, told British GQ that co-star Gary Oldman had declared in September that Amazon MGM had already chosen their 007.

Kristin Scott Thomas has no inside knowledge on the Bond casting but gave Jack Lowden, 36, an emphatic endorsement, saying he has 'that twinkle' and is 'cheeky'. Lowden, who stars alongside her in Apple TV+'s 'Slow Horses', screen tested for the role in London in October alongside Callum Turner, Josh O'Connor and a fourth unknown actor.

Gary Oldman claimed in September that Bond had already been picked and his 'fingers are crossed for Jack', though he later walked back saying he did not know who had won the part.

Lowden himself played coy in a GQ interview, saying Bond speculation gets 'flung at' any young actor in a suit and he did not want to 'add to the noise'.

Producer Amy Pascal has said an announcement is expected by the end of the year, with Denis Villeneuve directing and 'Peaky Blinders' creator Steven Knight writing the script.
