Labour ex-Sheriff of Nottingham 'abused his position' for free Paw Patrol tickets and cheap Land Rover repairs, report finds

Zafran Khan, a Labour councillor and brother of Nottingham City Council leader Neghat Khan, was found to have violated the code of conduct on eight occasions, according to an investigation by law firm Bevan Brittan. A £30,000 Land Rover repair quote dropped to £7,500 after he approached the dealership in his role as sheriff. Khan denies all wrongdoing. Thursday's standards hearing fell apart after his legal team raised objections over a panel member.

Khan is seeking 'no sanction beyond a recommendation for training' if found guilty.

His lawyers argue that press leaks have caused him 'significant ongoing emotional distress and embarrassment'.

He maintained that Land Rover 'ought to repair his car' because he was a 'loyal customer'.
