Labour gives Green Party a seven-day ultimatum to reject 'Zionism is racism' policy or lose all council coalitions
Zack Polanski, whose Green Party poll rating has slumped to nine points since a member vote declared Zionism a form of racism cost him the Holborn and St Pancras by-election.
Green groups that refuse will see their power-sharing arrangements axed immediately. The equalities watchdog EHRC has also written to the Green Party warning that Jewish people "will be feeling vulnerable" following the conference motion. Green leader Zack Polanski, who stood aside during the vote, accused Burnham of "arming a genocide and locking pensioners up" for opposing it.
Burnham branded the motion "antisemitic" at Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, ruling out any national partnership with the Greens while the policy stands.
Four of the Greens' five MPs publicly condemned the motion, which rejects a two-state solution and calls for a single Palestinian state to take Israel's place.
The Greens accused Labour of being "undemocratic" for trying to "tell local parties what to do and who they can work with."
