Labour is accused of leaving Army vehicles 'stranded in full view of the enemy' after a £2bn kit cut

The Army has scrapped three planned variants of the Boxer armoured vehicle, including a repair-and-recovery model built to haul damaged Boxers off the battlefield. Defence minister Luke Pollard called the move 'reprioritisation'. The armoured vehicle budget has shrunk from more than £7bn to just over £5bn. Ministers are trying to plug an estimated £4.7bn hole in defence spending.

More than 600 Boxers are due, but the full fleet won't arrive until 2031.

Tory MP Ben Obese-Jecty warned that troops could be 'fighting with one hand behind their backs'.

Shadow defence secretary James Cartlidge accused Labour of undermining its own military ambitions.
