Labour-linked think tank urges Burnham to make rejoining the EU a 'medium-term' goal ahead of Brussels summit

The Institute for Public Policy Research claims Britain lacks the 'scale' to face 'Russian aggression, American unreliability and Chinese coercion' alone. Executive director Harry Quilter-Pinner said 'the world Britain built its post-Brexit strategy for no longer exists'. The IPPR's own polling claims 52% now want to join. Andy Burnham is to set out options at a UK-EU summit on November 20.
Burnham has said he would like to see Britain back in the EU in his lifetime.
Former Labour leader Neil Kinnock endorsed the call, having called rejoining 'the only patriotic thing'.
The IPPR claims 54% of Labour voters eyeing Reform also want to rejoin the EU.
