Labour's £2bn Army cut could leave Boxer armoured vehicles 'stranded in full view of the enemy', Tories warn

The Ministry of Defence has scrapped three new battlefield vehicles, including the only one designed to recover damaged Boxers in combat. The armoured vehicle budget has been slashed from more than £7bn to just over £5bn. Shadow minister Ben Obese-Jecty said deploying any Boxer regiment would be 'near-impossible'. Ministers are scrambling to fill a £4.7bn defence black hole.

Defence Secretary Wes Streeting told the Commons the armed forces must 'live within their means'.

Non-essential Army training could be halted to save money.

The Army still expects more than 600 Boxers, with the full fleet not due before 2031.
