Courts can now ban adults from town centres, impose curfews and stop drinking in parks and high streets. Offenders face unlimited fines, and judges can order them into drug, alcohol or anger management treatment. Landlords, housing associations and transport networks can apply alongside police and councils. The net is wide: the orders can cover swearing, busking, street preaching and feeding pigeons.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood: anti-social behaviour 'blights our communities' and 'I won't accept it'.

Hertfordshire's police commissioner Jonathan Ash-Edwards warned: 'The proof will be in the pudding.'

Blair's ASBOs were scrapped in 2014 after legal challenges and could target ten-year-olds.
