Hampshire crime commissioner Donna Jones has written to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood demanding landings 'do not become a regular occurrence'. She says her first letter went unanswered. Three dinghies have crossed from Normandy in six weeks, two of them bringing migrants ashore in Hampshire. Gosport Borough Council has voted to keep the town off the list for future arrivals.

Road blockades by hundreds of protesters in Portsmouth followed the first landing on September 6.

Officials say arrivals go to Manston, near Dover, not Fort Blockhouse in Gosport.

The Home Office cites 'established contingency plans' but refuses to reveal them.
