Labour voters back rejoining the EU within a decade as think tank roadmap is sent to Burnham

Nearly three-quarters of Labour voters want Andy Burnham to include a commitment to EU membership talks in the party's next manifesto, a major poll shows. The survey, by European Movement UK and Observant, also finds Britons would vote by nearly two to one — 57 to 30 per cent — to rejoin the EU in another referendum. A think tank has drawn up a roadmap charting a course back to EU membership by 2036 and handed it directly to the prime minister.

Backed by Lord Heseltine, Neil Kinnock and Sir Vince Cable, the roadmap seeks to address concerns about adopting the euro or joining Schengen.

Europe is reportedly in economic chaos and Britain would be 'next in line' if bond vigilantes dislodge France, one commentator warns.
